The CEO of TikTok,
Shou Zi Chew,
has explained that the app will not be banned despite concerns about its Chinese ownership.
Chew stated that the company operates independently and has established strong data privacy protections and controls.
He also mentioned that TikTok's parent company, ByteDance, has established a separate entity called TikTok Global
which is fully owned by American investors and operates independently.
Chew emphasized that TikTok is committed to transparency and accountability,
and will continue to work closely with regulators to ensure compliance with all laws and regulations.
He also addressed concerns about misinformation on the app,
saying that TikTok has taken measures to combat false information and promote accurate content.
