But in most cases after applying for voter id online, people usually lose their reference id number or forgot reference number of voter id. During these instances, Voter ID applicants often present inquiries such as “i forgot my reference id in voter id” or voter id reference number lost or forgot voter reference id. So when reference id is lost, it becomes impossible to track the status of submitted voter id application. Without Election Card reference number you stay uninformed about the status, and you can’t even know whether your application has been approved or rejected.

Methods to Get Back Lost Voter ID Reference Id or Number
How to Get Voter ID Reference Number if Lost: The NVSP Portal does not offer a feature for the recovery or retrieval of lost reference numbers through a search based on applicant details. Following the submission of your voter ID application, a reference ID number is generated, and it is imperative that you make a record of it by noting it down or capturing a screenshot for future reference.
If you have taken a screenshot of that screen then you can refer to that screenshot to find out your reference number.
Another source to get your voter card reference number back is check your phone inbox, as once successfully submitting the application you will receive the reference id of your application on your mobile number via SMS.
If you are unsuccessful with the above two modes to retrieve back your voter id reference no, then you can follow the below method.
Voter Id Reference Number Check by Electoral Roll
As you are aware that Online NVSP Portal doesn’t provide any facility to recover lost reference no of your voter id application. So finally there is only one way left to check the voter id status if your Voter ID Application is approved or not, is by checking electrical roll
Just visit Voter’s Service Portal Official Portal https://voters.eci.gov.in/
Click on Search in Electoral Roll
It will navigate you to a new webpage Search in Electoral Roll
By default Search by Details tab will be selected, there will be two more tabs such as Search by EPIC and Search by Mobile
Click on the Search by Mobile
Select the State, Enter the mobile number from which you have submitted the Voter ID application and click on the Send OTP button
A one-time-password will be sent on your mobile number
Enter the received OTP Code in the Enter OTP field, enter the Captcha code and click on the Search button
If your voter id application is accepted then your record will be found in the search result and if your application is still under process or declined then it won’t show any results
If no results are found then you will need to wait for few more days and track your details again
So this is the only option left for you to track the status of your Voter Id application without reference id or number in case if you have forgot voter id reference number. However even waiting for longer period of time, your details are not displayed in an electoral roll then just get in touch with NVSP Customer Service or submit a fresh application for Voter ID, but this time remember to note down your reference id somewhere safely.
A reference number is a random number which generated once the online application for voter id is submitted. With this reference number one can track their application status.
