Welcome to the Viofo Dashcam Organizer

Welcome to the Viofo Dashcam Organizer, a straightforward tool designed to help you manage your dashcam footage with ease. This guide will walk you through the simple steps to sort, view, and copy your recordings, ensuring your important moments are always accessible.

Getting Started: Selecting Your Dashcam Files

To begin, you need to bring your dashcam video files into the organizer. You have two primary ways to do this:

Option 1: Choose Files Individually or in Batches

Click the "Choose Files" button. This will open a standard file selection window. You can select individual video files, or hold down Ctrl (or Cmd on Mac) and click to select multiple files at once. If you want to select all files in a folder, navigate to that folder in the file selection window and press Ctrl+A (or Cmd+A on Mac) to highlight everything, then click "Open" or "Select".

Option 2: Drag and Drop Your Files

For a quicker method, simply open the folder containing your dashcam recordings on your computer. Then, click and drag the desired video files directly from your folder onto any part of the Viofo Dashcam Organizer webpage. The application will automatically detect and process them.

Important Note on Folder Selection (for Firefox Users)

Some browsers, like Firefox, do not currently support direct folder selection for security reasons. If you are using Firefox and click the "Select Folder" button, you will see a message indicating this limitation. In such cases, please use the "Choose Files" button and select all files manually, or use the drag-and-drop method. For the most seamless experience with folder selection, we recommend using a Chromium-based browser like Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.

Understanding File Categorization

Once you've selected your files, the Viofo Dashcam Organizer automatically sorts them based on their naming convention. This tool is specifically designed for Viofo dashcam recordings, which typically follow a clear pattern:

  • • Front Camera Recordings: These files will have names ending with _F or F (e.g., 20240101_120000_F.mp4, 20240101120000F.mp4).
  • • Rear Camera Recordings: These files will have names ending with _R or R (e.g., 20240101_120000_R.mp4, 20240101120000R.mp4).

The organizer will display a count of processed files for both front and rear cameras. Any files that do not match these specific naming patterns will be ignored and will not appear in the categorized lists, keeping your workspace clean and focused.

Playing Your Dashcam Videos

The Viofo Dashcam Organizer provides a built-in video player for convenient playback of your recordings.

Playing Individual Videos

Next to each listed video file, you'll find a "Play" button. Click this button to load and play that specific video in the main video player area. This is useful for quickly reviewing individual incidents or moments.

Playing All Front or Rear Camera Recordings (Playlist Feature)

Below the main video player, you'll see two prominent buttons:

  • • "Play All Front Camera": Click this to start a playlist of all your categorized front camera recordings. Videos will play one after another automatically.
  • • "Play All Rear Camera": Similarly, click this to play all your categorized rear camera recordings in sequence.

During playlist playback, you'll see additional controls appear: "Stop Playlist" and "Skip Video". Use these to manage your viewing experience. The player will also indicate which video is currently playing from the playlist.

Copying Your Organized Files

After reviewing and sorting your files, you might want to copy them to a new location on your computer for safekeeping or further editing. The organizer makes this simple:

Selecting Files for Copying

Each video file listed in the Front Camera and Rear Camera sections has a checkbox next to it. Click these checkboxes to select the individual files you wish to copy. You can select as many as you need from either list.

To quickly select all files in a category, use the "Select All" button located below each list (e.g., "Select All Front" or "Select All Rear").

Initiating the Copy Process

Once you've selected your desired files, click the corresponding "Copy Front Files" or "Copy Rear Files" button. This will prompt your browser to ask you where you'd like to save these files on your computer. Choose your desired destination, and the selected videos will be copied there.

Dark and Light Themes

For your viewing comfort, the Viofo Dashcam Organizer includes both dark and light themes. You can toggle between these themes by clicking the sun/moon icon located in the top right corner of the page. Alternatively, you can use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+T to switch themes quickly.

Client-Side Processing: Your Privacy Matters

It's important to note that the Viofo Dashcam Organizer operates entirely within your web browser. This means all file processing, sorting, and copying happens directly on your computer. None of your video files are ever uploaded to any server, ensuring your privacy and data security. You can even use this tool offline once it's loaded in your browser.

We hope this guide helps you make the most of your Viofo Dashcam Organizer. Happy organizing!
