Now SBI allows you to change your registered mobile number via Online SBI Internet Banking. This feature has proved very useful for those who want to change their mobile number as it allows you to easily change registered mobile number with bank Online without visiting the branch.
So to know the process of How to Change Mobile Number in Online SBI just follow the below steps.

Learn How to Change Mobile Number in Online SBI
- Login to Online SBI.
- Navigate to Profile > Personal Details, and enter the profile password.
- Under Personal details from Mobile, Number Section click on Change Mobile Number-Domestic only (Through OTP/ATM/Contact Centre) to change your registered mobile number.
- Enter the valid new mobile number in the new mobile field and in the second field re-enter new mobile number to confirm and click on submit.
- A pop-up message will appear ‘Verify and confirm your mobile number xxxxxxxxxx’. Click on OK to proceed.
- In the next screen, you will get three methods for approval of the change of mobile number.
- By OTP on both the Mobile Number
- IRATA: Internet Banking Request Approval through ATM
- Approval through Contact Centre
By OTP on both the mobile number: (if you have both new and old mobile number with you then you can proceed with this option as it will be approved online by entering the OTP which you will receive on your mobile numbers).
- Click on ‘By OTP on both the Mobile Number’.
- Click on the ‘Proceed’ button.
- Select the account, for which you are holding the debit card (ATM Card).
- Click on the ‘Proceed’ button.
- In the next screen, the ATM Cards linked with the selected account will be displayed.
- Select the ATM card and click on the ‘Proceed’ button.
- In the next screen, the State Bank of India’s Payment Gateway will be displayed.
- Enter the card details (card number, valid thru/Expiry Date, Cardholder’s Name, PIN and the characters visible in the box).
- And Click on the ‘Submit’ button.
- Verify the information entered and click on the ‘Pay’ button.
- On successful validation, INB system will send OTP along with reference number on your old as well as new mobile number.
- You need to send SMS from BOTH (old and new) mobile numbers in the following format ACTIVATE <8 digit OTP value> <13 digit reference number> to 567676 within 4 hrs. e.g. ACTIVATE 12345678 UM12051500123
- Upon successful validation of the OTP value and reference number, the new mobile number entered by you will be copied in INB, CBS, and ATM. You will receive a successful message on your mobile number.
IRATA: Internet Banking Request Approval through ATM:
- Click on ‘IRATA: Internet Banking Request Approval through ATM’.
- Click on the ‘Proceed’ button.
- Select the account, for which you are holding the debit card.
- Click on the ‘Proceed’ button.
- In the next screen, the ATM cards linked with the selected account will be displayed.
- Click on the ‘Proceed’ button.
- In the next screen, the State Bank of India’s Payment Gateway will be displayed.
- Enter the card details (card number, valid thru/Expiry Date, Cardholder’s Name, PIN and the characters visible in the box).
- Click on the ‘Submit’ button.
- Verify the entered details and click on the ‘Pay’ button.
- On successful validation, a message will be displayed saying “Thanks for registering mobile number with us. The status of your request is pending. Kindly complete the registration process according to the option selected by you. Click here to see the guidelines for process completion.”
- An SMS containing “Reference No. for Change/Update mobile number is: UMXXXXXXXXXXX and your IRATA reference number is XXXXXXXXXX” will be sent by INB system on your new mobile number.
- Please visit any State Bank Group ATM, swipe your card, select the ‘Services’ tab and input your PIN.
- Select the ‘Others’ tab on the ATM screen and choose the ‘Internet Banking Request Approval’ option.
- Enter the 10-digit reference number for approval of the request.
- On successful completion of the process, the request (change of mobile number) will be initiated.
- Upon successful validation of the OTP value and reference number, the new mobile number entered will be updated in INB, CBS and ATM. As well as a successful message will be sent to the customer on his mobile number.
Approval through the Contact Centre:
- Click the radio button against the option ‘Approval through Contact Centre’.
- Click on the ‘Proceed’ button.
- Select the account by clicking the radio button, for which you possess the debit card.
- Click on the ‘Proceed’ button.
- In the next screen, the ATM cards associated with the selected account will be displayed.
- Select the ATM card and click on the ‘Proceed’ button.
- In the next screen, the State Bank of India’s Payment Gateway will be displayed.
- Enter the card details (card number, valid thru/Expiry Date, Cardholder’s Name, PIN and the characters visible in the box).
- Click on the ‘Submit’ button.
- Verify the information and click on the ‘Pay’ button.
- On successful validation, the following message will be displayed to the customer on the screen; “Thanks for registering mobile number with us. The status of your request is pending. Kindly complete the registration process according to the option selected by you. Click here to see the guidelines for process completion.”
- An SMS containing “Reference No. for Change/Update mobile number is: UMXXXXXXXXXXX” will be sent by the INB system on the new mobile number.
- Bank’s Contact Center person will call you within the next 3 working days on your new mobile number only.
- Kindly ask for the reference number from the Contact Center person before sharing your personal details.
- Kindly do not share a reference number with anybody.
- Contact Center will verify your identity overcall by asking certain information.
- On successful verification of information, the new mobile number inputted by you will be copied in INB, CBS, and ATM. A successful message in this regard will also be sent to you on your new mobile number.
How to View Status & Cancellation of Request
You can view the status of your request of updation/change of mobile number through Internet Banking
- Login to Online SBI
- Go to the ‘Profile’ tab.
- Click on the ‘Personal Details’ link.
- Display Name, Email ID and mobile number registered in INB will be displayed.
- Click on the hyperlink ‘Change Mobile Number-Domestic only (Through OTP/ATM/Contact Centre)’.
- A new screen ‘Personal Details-Mobile Number Update’ with three tabs ‘Create Request’, ‘Cancel Request’ and ‘Status’ will appear.
- Click on the ‘Status’ tab to view the present status (Pending/Successful) of your request to change mobile number through INB.
- If you want to cancel the request, please click on the ‘Cancel Request’ tab and choose the request.
- Click on the ‘Cancel Request’ button to cancel the request.
- A message ‘Your Reference Number UMxxxxxxxxxx is successfully canceled’ will be displayed on the screen.
I have done this using ATM IRATA but I didnot got any message containing 10 digit reference number on my new mobile.

If you have done it correctly than you will receive the SMS containing “Reference No. for Change/Update mobile number is: UMXXXXXXXXXXX and your IRATA reference number is XXXXXXXXXX” on your new mobile number.

but we can find 10 digit irata number in the right side panel in profile tab after checking status as irat status and we find reference id there….!
Did the correct procedure for IRATA to change my mobile number but did not get the reference number to change my mobile number on my new phone number.

If you are not receiving OTP you may try installing State Bank Secure OTP App to generate OTP without SMS.

I have received otp with reference number, i forwarded that number as way of process how sms instructed, then i got msg like two types are -one is ur new request mobile no is not updated with reference no xxxxxxxxxxxx, second msg as ur otp request is received. both msgs comes same period of time .what is that meaning. Please note that you will receive all communication related to internet banking on your new mobile number only after approval by Bank.
I have updated my new mobile number in internet banking using IRATA option. And I have also received reference number on my new mobile number. But the thing is when I go to ATM to approve the request. It doesn’t seem to work. I tried two to three times. It says “Unable to process your request” after giving my 10 digit reference number and confirming it. Could any one please help me with this. I’m struggling to update my mobile number as im unable to do any online transactions.

It is very bad to hear that you are getting error while changing your mobile number but there might be some technical glitch, i request you to tray again tomorrow or after few days.

I was regularly using SBI Secure OTP on my iPhone in USA, but when I tried to use it today to transfer money, I got the registration screen.
I am traveling in USA and don’t have access to an Indian (domestic) mobile number where the registration OTP will be sent.
Can I change my mobile number from domestic to USA mobile number?
Or, how do I set up SBI Secure OTP on my iPhone in USA?

You can try to login into your SBI Secure OTP App by following our guide Generate OTP for SBI Without SM, And If you to update or change your mobile number registered with SBI Account, you can do it but only Indian Number will be accepted not from USA.

HOW MUCH IT TIME IT USUALLY TAKES FOR UPDATING MOBILE NUMBER THROUGH ATM IRATA METHOD
SBI Sucks. Change of mob no through IRATA is a farsh by SBI. I checked several SBI ATMs with my 10 digit reference no to avail this service but there is no option at all for IRATA. Swipe your ATM Card —– Services —– Others — DEAD END (Nothing is there). You can’t enter your 10 digit IRATA Ref No. Bloody SBI Sucks.
Stone age banking. The IRATA option is a farce, I was able to enter the 10 digit reference number and it also showed a screen saying the transaction is being processed, but nothing happens after that, you will have to scratch your head and walk out of the wretched ATM. Neither their staff nor their systems work. Useless bank.
